Explore the Jewish Ghetto
One of Rome's most distinctive neighbourhoods, full of history, food and small streets.
A compact walk through the Jewish Ghetto, hidden squares, Caravaggio, the Pantheon and local food stops.
Start directly in the Jewish Ghetto, where the Portico d'Ottavia is part of the neighbourhood experience rather than a separate stop. Continue through Piazza Mattei and Campo de' Fiori, slip into the hidden Arco degli Acetari on Via del Pellegrino, then move through the historic centre to Sant'Andrea della Valle, the Chiostro del Bramante, San Luigi dei Francesi, the Pantheon, with a choice between Tazza d'Oro for coffee and Salotto 42 for aperitivo nearby, and Piazza Navona.
Allow around 4 hours for the core route, with extra time for optional stops. Near the Pantheon, choose Tazza d'Oro for coffee or Salotto 42 for aperitivo. Start in the afternoon so you can reach San Luigi dei Francesi and the Pantheon while they are still open. Renato al Ghetto is best if you stop before leaving the Ghetto; after completing the route, choose Baffetto for Roman pizza or Osteria delle Coppelle for aperitivo, dinner or a longer evening.
